KHE SANH

     On 13 June, 1967 moved by truck convoy to KHE SANH.  On 131815H operational control was chopped from 3rd Mar Div to the 26th Marines.
     While at KHE SANH, the 26th Marines were responsible for relations with the Vietnamese in the area, and the Battalion usually worked only indirectly with the Vietnamese.

KHE SANH

      3/26 was participating in Operation CROCKETT at KHE SANH, HUONG HOA District, QUANG TRI Province under the operational control of the 26th Marines.
On July 162400H Operation CROCKET terminated and Operation ARDMORE commenced on July 170001H.

DONG HA   

  In August, 3/26 was engaged in Operation ARDMORE in the KHE SANH Area, HUONG HOA District, QUANG TRI Province.
The Battalion was under the operational control the 26th Marines from 1 to 13 August. 
      On 13 August, Command Control Group "A", Companies "Kilo" and "Lima" flew to DONG HA where they were chopped operational control to the 9th Marines.  Command Group "B", Companies "India" and "Mike" remained under the operational control of the 26th Marines at KHE SANH for theremaider of the month.

     CP Group "B", with "India" and "Mike" Companies were under operational control of the 26th Marines at KHE SANH until 5 September, when they were helilifted to Camp Carrol and chopped operational control to the 9th Marines at 1840H.
     The entire Battalion operated under the 9th Marines until 12 September, when the Command Group with "India" and "Mike" Companies moved to the 4th Marines. 
     On 14 September "Kilo" and "Lima" Companies moved to Camp Evans to join the remainder of the Battalion, under the operational control of the 4th Marines.

     3/26 provided perimeter defense for Camp Evans, Hill 51 (Reg't OP YD549282), Hill 674 (radio relay site YD516219); provide security for MCB Construction Team, Regimental Water Point, and Rough Riders.  Conduct aggressive small unit patrols and Search and Destroy operations with the remaining available forces.  "Lima" 3/26 was opconed to 2/26.

CO BI THANH TAN

     From 1-21 November, 3/26(-), was located at Camp Evans, Pkeng Dien District, QUANG TRI Province, with the mission of providing security for Camp Evans, Hill 674, and Hill 51. "Mike" Company was opconed to 2/26 until November 23, Companies "India" and "Kilo" moved to CO BI THANH TAN area (YD563284).
      On 24 November, "Lima" Company moved to the My Chanh area (YD442396).  "Mike" Company joined "Lima" Company on 25 November.  The Battalion had the mission in the CO BI THANH TAN and MY CHANH areas of conducting Search and Destroy operations.

KHE SANH

     From 1-13 December, The Battalion was assigned the mission of conducting search and destroy operations in the CO BI THANH TAN and MY CHANH areas. 
     On 13 December, the Battalion left for DONG HA to chop operational control to the 9th Marines, but the battalion was only there a few hours before tactical commitments forced immediate transportation to KHE SANH. 
     From 25-31 December the Battalion provided the defense for Hills 861 and 881S. "Kilo" Company on Hill 861 and "India" Company to Hill 881S.  "Mike" Company remained on Regimental Reserve, and "Lima" Company provided security for the defense perimeter of the KHE SANH Combat Base.
